Murad Skin Perfecting Cream

Meghan Lawlor

Have you ever tried a product out of desperation and then it turned out to be one of your favourites? That was my experience with the Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion. I received this in the last Spring Fab Fit Fun box (use this link to get $10 off your first box). I was excited to try it but had no intention of it becoming my regular moisturizer. I was, and still am, so in love with my Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer. I figured I’d try this for a few days to see if I could recommend it and then I’d go back to my regular routine. Turns out, by the time my regular cream was empty, I was not in the financial place to be able to purchase a new one because I also needed to replace my eye cream, which is not cheap. I have been trying to concentrate on only buying the beauty products that I absolutely need lately since I would rather purchase quality over quantity. All of this in mind, I could not bring myself to spend another $63 dollars on beauty products that week. So I decided to adopt my Murad Lotion as my daily and nightly face cream. As it turns out, my skin and my wallet both thanked me! At first I wasn’t convinced at all since it didn’t seem to even want to absorb into my skin. I also felt that it didn’t give me enough hydration at night and my skin wasn’t feeling so great when I woke up. It didn’t seem to want to jive with my daily foundation (It Cosmetics CC Cream) which I love so much and was not willing to change. So what was I to do? I couldn’t bring myself to spend any more money and I wasn’t crazy about my new cream. For a couple of paychecks I thought ok next one I’ll get a new cream, then something else came up that was always more important (adulthood really sucks sometimes).

During these weeks I started to notice subtle changes in my skin. I had less breakouts, and I was getting less oily during the daytime. Now to give you a picture of what my skin goes through in the run of a day, I am a travelling salesperson (on the road all day) and the AC in my car is broken (again, adulthood is about sacrifices). My territory is the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia which is pretty much as hot as it gets around here. I’m sweating almost all day, and I have an oily skin type anyway. So my makeup has its work cut out for it. Most days I embrace the shine because fighting it makes it worse. After a few weeks of using this cream, my makeup was even staying on better! If you’re oily you have got to get your hands on this product.

I have been using this for about 2 months now and honestly think I have found a new summer moisturizer. This is crazy because I am super fussy about skincare and until I started using Kiehl’s I really didn’t think I’d ever find anything to suit my skin. I don’t think this Murad Lotion would be able to handle a Canadian winter since my skin dries up a lot in the winter. However, for an oily person finding something that controls oil in the summer is priceless. I may continue to use this as my daytime moisturizer in the winter and use a thicker more hydrating cream at night but either way this one is staying in my routine.

Have you tried the Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion? I want to know in the comments below what you guys think!
